01 / WASTE → VALUE

Your waste could find a new use.

We start by understanding the stream’s properties and the requirements of potential applications. We assess what is worth recovering, processing or using, and the conditions needed to make the selected route viable.

Your starting point

You have waste or a side-stream and want to find a valuable use for it — for example, organic residues, packaging waste, textile offcuts or secondary raw materials.

What we do

We characterise waste or side-streams, identify valuable ingredients and potential applications. We compare selected routes against technical feasibility, environmental impact, regulatory requirements and economic viability.

What you receive

The first stage gives you an assessment of the stream’s potential, recommendations for possible applications and a plan for validating the most promising routes. Depending on the project goal, subsequent stages may include recovery or processing trials, samples, a prototype or a demonstrator.

Where we start

With the feedstock’s origin, volume, variability and current use or disposal route.

02 / MATERIAL DEVELOPMENT

From product requirements to a material you can test.

We deliver contract research and development. Start with a need, an idea or an existing sample.

Your starting point

You need a new material or further development of a solution that has not yet reached the required performance or scale.

Examples include a new formulation or coating, specific performance requirements, or a sample that needs further development.

What we do

We develop or modify material formulations, prepare samples and prototypes, and validate performance in the intended application.

R&D infrastructure & scale-up

Bio2Materials has in-house laboratory facilities and equipment for material development, sample preparation and testing. We extend these capabilities through collaborations with research centres in Poland and across Europe. When a material is ready to move beyond laboratory scale, we work with industrial partners to run pilot and scale-up trials under conditions corresponding to target production processes.

What you receive

Depending on the project stage, you receive samples or a prototype, test results and recommendations for further work. If the results justify continued development, we also prepare a plan for moving to pilot trials and further scale-up.

Where we start

With the application, required properties, cost constraints and current development stage.

03 / MATERIAL TRANSITION

A better material may already exist. We help you find it.

At Bio2Materials, we identify and compare commercially available materials to find options that better meet your product requirements and environmental goals. We consider performance, environmental impact, regulatory requirements, cost and compatibility with existing manufacturing processes.

Your starting point

You have a product and need a commercially available material that better meets its performance requirements and environmental goals.

Goals may include improving durability, increasing recycled content or making recycling easier.

What we do

We define product requirements, identify alternatives and compare materials and suppliers. We establish what needs to be verified with samples and in the intended application.

What you receive

Depending on scope, you receive a shortlist of suitable materials, a comparison of available options, a recommended material and a plan for further validation.

Where we start

With the current material, product requirements, the desired improvement and cost and production constraints.

Extend the collaborationB2M STUDIO

A new material. New design possibilities.

If a material change creates an opportunity to improve the product, our B2M Studio team can refine its design or create a new version using innovative materials. This extends material selection into product design.

Experience / from feedstock to product

NUTICO™

NUTICO™ is a leather alternative developed and commercialised by Bio2Materials using cocoa husks and walnut shells. It shows how we connect side-stream utilisation with the development of new materials and their applications.

Challenge

Develop a leather alternative using organic waste and side-streams, with biodegradability and reduced production impact among the project goals.

What we did

Opportunity assessment, R&D, prototyping and application development.

Result

NUTICO material, samples and product applications, with development of the roll-to-roll process described by the manufacturer.

01 / BIO-BASED COATINGS

Bio-based coatings & PVC alternatives

Coating-forming technologies for textiles and other substrates, being developed as potential alternatives to PVC with an increased share of bio-derived feedstocks.

02 / FUNCTIONAL & BARRIER COATINGS

Functional & barrier coatings

Technologies providing water protection, controlled release and barrier properties, with potential applications in packaging, fertilisers and other sectors.

Both technologies are currently in development. If you would like to evaluate their potential in a specific product or process, get in touch.

Working with Bio2Materials

Your goal sets the direction.

Whether you are finding a use for feedstock, developing a new material or changing a material in a product, we connect technical requirements with environmental, regulatory and economic considerations.

01

Define the goal

We understand your starting point, requirements and constraints. Together, we agree the scope and success criteria.

02

Assess the options

We match the work to your challenge: comparing solutions, developing materials or validating a material in its intended application.

03

Recommend the next step

You receive findings and a clear recommendation to guide solution selection or further development.

Industries & collaboration

Material challenges across industries.

Explore example application areas and the types of material challenges we can address. We tailor the scope to your product, process and project goals.

Beyond these sectors

Don’t see your industry?

The sectors above are examples, not a closed list of collaboration areas. If you are working on a material challenge, looking for a use for a side-stream or searching for a better material for a product in another industry, get in touch. We will assess how Bio2Materials can support your project.

One team. Four perspectives.

Connecting materials, design and industry.

A material’s value depends on its properties, application and implementation potential. That is why we approach your project from four complementary perspectives.

01

Materials expertise

We compare feedstocks, available materials and technologies to narrow the selection to options that match project requirements.

02

Design & Application

We connect material properties with product function, aesthetics and use. Collaboration with B2M Studio can extend the project into product design.

03

Research & Development

We translate requirements into formulations, samples and test results. Successive iterations establish whether the solution meets agreed criteria.

04

Industrial Perspective

We consider processing, feedstock availability, costs and repeatability to identify the conditions needed to move from a sample to a pilot.
